MLCA Board Agrees to Continue Farmers’ Market

At a special meeting held on Monday, February 12, the MLCA board decided to continue with the
farmers’ market, on condition that an acceptable budget is brought forward for approval at the March
26 board meeting. The board will be looking for a budget with a maximum deficit of $15,000 for the
upcoming fiscal year and declining in future years. Curtis Wright was appointed to the board as Farmers’
Market Director. Curtis has been a regular market-goer and is excited about the opportunity to serve in
this role.

There are still significant challenges to deal with before we can open the market in June. We are aware
of at least one other potential organization that has expressed interest in hosting the market. And we
will need to successfully sign up vendors for the upcoming market season. Our team of staff and
volunteers will be focused on these and other challenges in the coming months.
